Building Tomorrow Together
For over 50 years, Isle of Wight Academy has served as a stronghold in the community educating students from around the region. Throughout this time, the Academy has made numerous capital improvements. The time has come for the most extensive capital plan that IWA has undertaken-the renovation of all existing classroom buildings. This capital improvement plan is the most ambitious one in the school’s history and will encompass renovations in five buildings and thirty two classrooms. In the summer of 2020, the first phase began with the renovation of the bathrooms on campus.
The Building Tomorrow Together” capital improvement plan includes:
-
Updates to the fixtures and flooring in every bathroom throughout the classroom buildingsCOMPLETED - Replacement of the existing windows with more energy efficient windows
- Replacement of the existing tile floors in the classrooms
- Updates of the electrical wiring in each classroom and replacement of the existing lights in all classrooms
- Replacement of the classroom doors with more energy efficient and secure access points
- Replacement of the existing cabinetry and cubby systems in the classrooms with cabinetry that is more conducive to classroom management and provides for more adequate storage for teachers
-
Repair/Replacement of the roof in three of the existing classroom buildings - Installation of network upgrades to equip classrooms with the capabilities to accommodate planned upgrades to the school’s technology
- Replacement of the majority of the furnishings in each classroom
